Healing deepens when we pause to reflect

Welcome to Reflections. A space where I share thoughts, insights, and gentle reminders drawn from the work of therapy and everyday life.

These writings are not therapy in themselves, but they are offered as gentle companions to the process. This is an invitation to pause, consider, and connect with yourself in new ways.

Here you'll find reflections on themes such as self-care, resilience, relationships, grief, growth, as well as the therapy process. Take what feels meaningful, and let it meet you where you are.

Whether you're in therapy, considering it, or simply curious about your own growth, these pieces are here to offer gentle clarity and support.

When October rolls around

Every year, I notice a shift when October arrives. The days feel heavier, the pace feels harder to maintain, and for many, exhaustion has set in.

It’s the season where burnout, fatigue, and sometimes even apathy begin to show themselves. The endless commitments of the year catch up, and what once felt manageable can start to feel overwhelming.

When October rolls around, it often means:

• You’ve pushed yourself too hard for too long.
• You haven’t given yourself enough breaks or moments of rest.
• You’ve carried more than you can realistically manage.
• You’ve said “yes” when your mind and body were quietly pleading for you to say “no.”

Burnout isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s subtle. The tired sigh at the start of the day, the lack of excitement for things you once enjoyed, the creeping sense that you’re just moving through the motions.

But October can also be a signal. A reminder.
That rest is not earned only after collapse; it is needed along the way.
That self-care is not indulgence; it is maintenance.
That boundaries are not selfish; they are protective.

As the year begins to draw to a close, this month offers an invitation: pause, take stock, and breathe. Reflect on what you need, what can be released, and what rhythms will carry you more gently into the year’s end.
Because when October rolls around, it’s not just about what you’ve carried. It’s about how you choose to set it down.
